Hunter Education Gun Course
All registration for this course will be through the DEC website (www.dec.ny.gov). Registration will open about 30 days prior to the start date of this course.
Once on the DEC website, click on "Recreation", then, on the left hand panel, select Hunter Education, follow the links and instructions.
Students are required to download the Student Manual, and the Student Homework Worksheets. The completed "Homework Sheets" are the student's "entrance pass" to attend the course, and will be collected upon arrival.
If the student is between 12 and 16 years of age, they are required to download the "Parental Permission Form", have the form completed and signed by a parent, or guardian, and bring the completed form to the course. A signed permission slip is required in order for the student to participate in the "shooting" portion of this course.
Students, who are 11 years of age, and have their 12th birthday, within 2022, may also register, and attend this course.
Parents, Guardians, and/or Mentors are encourage to register for and attend the course with the student.
Adults Students - If you have a mentor, and will be hunting with them, you are encouraged to have them take the course with you. Register, or have them register for the course.
